2021 towel design is inspired by this year's Zodiac sign the Ox or Cow.
“Nade-Ushi” meaning Rubbing Cow can be found in many Shinto shrines around Japan. The belief is that the Ox have the power to take your pain away by rubbing the corresponding body part of the Ox / Cow. It is also believed you gain wisdom by rubbing the Ox's head.
